SwimDuwamish-from the sublime to the awful

SwimDuwamish was a conservation project I developed and carried out—an adventure swim down the length of Seattle’s only river. It’s both a polluted Superfund site and industrial port at its mouth in Seattle’s harbor, and a pristine wonderland at its headwaters on the foothills near Mt. Rainier. Most in Seattle only know the industrial waterway, and I swam the river to help people see the connection between the bottom and the top. Along the way, I found more salmon than I ever expected to see in the lower 48. It was energizing, inspiring, and magnificent!

Here’s a link to the front page article in the Seattle Times about the swim.
